To Pee or Not to Pee?

… that is the question.
One day, I decided to start peeing in the shower. After all, it all goes down the same pipe, so why not. Right?
After doing this a while, I noticed that the urge to pee when I got into the shower was so intense that it was nigh impossible to hold it. What had I done?
Then I realized: this is just like Pavlov’s experiment! Pavlov was studying digestion processes in dogs. After a bit, he noticed that the dog would start salivating as soon as the technician who normally brings his food would enter the room.
Curious to test this further, he then devised an experiment, where he would start a metronome every time, shortly before feeding the dog.
And sure enough, Woofie would start salivating when the metronome was playing…
… all the time…
… even before any food was provided!
Pavlov had successfully conditioned his dog to associate the sound of the metronome with food.
In my case, by peeing in the shower on a regular basis, I had essentially trained my body to pee as soon as I got in the shower.
I have a theory: some people train themselves so well, they can’t even pee if there isn’t water running.
So now, I have decided to do the opposite. If I need to pee before taking a shower, I hold it, and take the shower first. And guess what? I can do it now!
What about you? Will you take up the Hold-it-in-shower Challenge?
